Mindfulness Based Cancer Recovery
Facilitated by Mark Levine, LICDC-CS, MAC
Owner of Minds at Peace
A diagnosis of cancer can uproot the life of the person given the diagnosis as well as those offering support and treatment.
The effectiveness of Mindfulness Based Cancer Research (MBCR) lies in its focus of treating the whole person, and not just the disease. Mindfulness can strengthen the immune system and help people respond to uncertainty, and to the side effects of treatment.
Family members and professionals taking care of cancer patients, for them too, life can become overwhelming. Stress affects their own health and the ability to give prolonged support. Yet for all it can also be a profound opportunity for changing your approach to living.
MBCR has been showed to significantly decreased mood disturbances and stress symptoms. It is based on the scientifically endorsed Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum and is appropriate for caregivers as well as those challenged by illness. The group setting provides powerful support rooted in compassion and acceptance.
No experience in mindfulness, meditation, yoga or any mind-body training is necessary. Just bring a sense of curiosity and the willingness to explore your own mind. Join us on a journey to change the way you approach the world, decrease stress and find a peace of mind even in the midst of life's storms.
Strengthen your mind,
Strengthen your world.
